Hi all,
Been a little bit since I've posted last, but I'm excited to start again with this post. I am starting a new small grow for myself tonight. Yay! Starting with good product will lead to a end result of great product- if you treat the plant while growing.

Legalization is in the new everyday and my husband and I continually follow each story to see how it plays out the closer we get to the 2016 Presidential Election. I suspect it will come up as the hero and the villain in many a debate and interview in the coming months.

Some people ask me- how did you get started in growing? Well- my husband has always had an avid passion for growing (we have a large backyard garden as well in the summers) and it really has grown from that. While he was learning more and more- I wanted to learn more so I could help. At times, our plants needed tending to and while he was at work- I was able to assist and give the plants what they needed right when they needed it.

Now, I love being able to spend my time and energy working with something that will produce another product that I will be proud of. I love the idea of being able to control the quality of the flower from start to finish- and being able to tell my friends that they are capable of the same with a little work and dedication. While not everyone has the space, as we do- there are plenty of ways to work a small personal grow into every living space. If you do not own your home, be sure to check with lease contracts, landlords, etc about their policies towards marijuana and personal growing. They are well within their rights to have restrictions and while I personally may not agree, it's smart to be respectful. it will pay off in the long run.

Check out your local hydroponics store, just to browse at first if you like. At lot of times there are free grow magazines that can help get you started or introduce you to the idea its self. We have an extensive library of books and online forums at our use for information. I will compile a list of books my husband and I recommend to you all if you are interested in learning more about growing in general or growing for yourself at home. This will be posted on the next entry :)

Well friends, off to go plant new seeds. I will have another post soon with recommended reading and getting started with the basics of Cannabis.

Hey Y'all!!

This is the first post of this blog- by me, Mile High Marijuana- aka Mrs. W- aka COSolsticeMJ on THCFarmer. I know this blog first appeared weeks ago. My intentions were to publish that same night- clearly didn't happen and work and serious life sometimes takes over every facet of your entire life. Don't Live to Work, Work to Live. ;)

Anyways- some of you may be wondering what exactly will be posted on this blog? What exactly will we be talking about with a blog titled "Mile High Marijuana"? Well, anything and everything under the sun, whatever y'all are curious about, and anything that could be happening locally, nationally or globally in the fight to end cannabis Prohibition around the world- regardless of if for recreational or medical use!!!

A little background I suppose, so you can get to know me a bit and where this interest, passion and love came from. I started consuming marijuana regularly at a rather late age in life (22) compared to some of my peers. I had been exposed to it in high school, but was a 3-sport athlete and did not what to jeopardize any of that at the time. The guy I was dating at the time (my now husband ;)) consumed cannabis regularly with his friend since just after high school and was very clear with me when we first started spending more time together - "it's there if you want it, otherwise no pressure". So my first interactions with cannabis were very laid back, at my own pace- even got my own mother to participate one date. Learned a lot that day :) It started with recreational use, and as I got older started to -  with lots of research and conversation with people in the industry- treat aliments medically with cannabis instead of immediately turning to conventional medical traditions. I have not kept a bottle of pain reliever in our house in over 4 years. Any medication that does come into it, typically expires before the package is even opened. We do treat some things (colds, allergies, etc) with herbal remedies outside of cannabis, as I also research, grow and use our own natural and herbal remedies. I also have other issues that I've used cannabis to treat and have found the therapeutic benefits much, much greater than any other traditional method of treatment I've researched at this point.

I digress- I'm now 29 (yikes!), working, married, a home owner, mom to 2 dogs who I love and one bad ass Auntie! I live in Colorado, where we are absolutely blessed by the gods and goddesses to be able to consume and possess cannabis legally for recreational use as adults over 21 and with the proper documentation-medically as well. The State of Colorado has become the forefront of the cannabis debate nationally and everyone is sitting back to see how we do it and what happens.

My husband and I grow for personal use within accordance of Colorado State Law and have really embraced this and enjoyed the freedoms that come with growing your own cannabis- quality, control, choice of strain, products that are used on the plants during growth and the ability to hand trim your plants and enjoy the product that came from your time, love, and energy- which is much more gratifying at the end of the day.

I do love the ability to be able to go to our local recreational dispensary and purchase a strain or 2 of flowers, concentrate, edibles or topicals to treat whatever I may need- or to just get high!

Welcome to Mile High Marijuana! I hope you join me (and my hubs too!) on this journey as we explore the basics of cannabis all the way down to the nitty-gritty of it all. Whatever questions you may have or topics you would like to see more information on - please comment or message me and I'll do my best to meet requests!!

Have a wonderful night and happy smoking!!
